Stopping Applications
The products featured below are friction brakes which are designed to stop shafts. Stopping applications fall into two categories:
Cycling Brake Applications
The brake is required to perform repeated stopping. A typical application requires multiple engagements per minute or hour. Brakes used for cycling applications are selected to provide consistent performance and service life.
E-stop Brake Applications
The brake is required to bring the system to rest within a specified time and absorb the full energy of the stop during an Emergency situation. A typical application requires rare or infrequent engagements. Brakes used for e-stop applications are selected to have the capacity to perform the stop within the specified period of time but not to do so on a continuous or repeated basis.
The products featured below can be used for both types of applications yet the same brake may not be able to perform both functions. If your application requires one brake to both cycle and handle e-stop conditions, please consult our engineering department.
